No digging in the dirt here, like fresh cut grass designers have incorporated this iconic look into their Resort 2014 collections. Most people will think of floral as somewhat feminine and girly but today you can find this on trend print masculine and modernized, making it cool, hip, and current. Floral patterns are no longer just for tea parties and ladies who lunch. Mary_Katrantzou_Dress

Fresh off the runway… Design houses like Givenchy have used this print in an unconventional way by just showing pops of floral in unexpected places, bringing an average garment some life and uniqueness. Prabal Gurung took floral to a more modern approach by tying in graphic flowers with the juxtaposition of linear geometric stripes and bold colors.  Keeping with the modern aesthetic Preen incorporated a beautiful old-fashioned floral pattern and re-worked the print by putting a young, hip, urban spin on it by using contrasting tie-die colors. From the incorporation of colors and geometric shapes, Christopher Kane’s innovated approach to flower power is one of my favorite looks from the Resort 2014 Collections. With the mixture of unique fabrics and materials he created a 3D computerized graphic effect.

Taking note from Mother Nature herself, this pattern is one to always be re-worked and modernized. Keeping with a classic floral print, to something more bold and daring, this print is no longer just for the Stepford Wives of the world. From men, to women, people are embracing color and pattern by making this look universal.
