One thing that was made very prominent at the Grammy Nominations this year was that this year is dedicated to all the new comers and underdogs of the music industry. Well, who’s complaining? No one. Because these new artists have brought with them an artistic freshness to modern music and are creating a huge fan base among the public. Each category has a strong set of competitors vying for the Grammy awards. The 55th Grammy Awards 2013 event will be held on the 10thof February, 2013 in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. The nominations for the biggest awards of the night like best artist, best song and best album has pitted Frank Ocean, Kanye West, fun, Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and Jay Z against each other. The Best Album Category of the year is filled with rock heavy hits, except for Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. Let’s see whether heavy rock will walk away with an award or R&B will stand out and rule. Among the songstresses, it is Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson in the lead with three nominations each to their name. The Record of the Year nominations, unlike other categories, witness an assortment of genres such as pop, hip hop and rock with The Black Keys’ Lonely Boy, Clarkson’s Stronger, fun’s We Are Young, Ocean’s Thinking About You, Gotye’s Somebody that I Used to Know and Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Getting Back Together.
Bruce Springsteen makes it to the GRAMMY MusiCares Person of the Year 2013.
