The footwear color trends for spring 2013 are here. And things are looking bold, bright and beautiful. As we said it is a bright world you will ‘walk’ on this spring, as bright is ‘in’ in a big way for footwear right now.
The ramps have virtually exploded into bright rainbow displays during footwear collection shows. Vibrant hues like orange, red, and yellow dominated. Traditionally calm colors like blue and green were showcased in their brighter and louder avatars in 2013.
Conventionally winter shoe color trends are restrained, sticking more to elegant blacks and browns. Spring summer footwear colors (just like spring summer apparel colors) are more vibrant than weary. And in 2013, vibrant has moved on the next level and is also vivacious in footwear.

1. Gorgeous Green for Glamour
You know that emerald green is a major color trend for apparels in the spring summer 2013 runway collections. What could be more natural than footwear following the same color trend?
The emerald green look is gorgeous and besides apparel and footwear extends to all manners of accessories including handbags, belts and of course jewelry. ‘Go Green’ is apparently the new fashion mantra.
2. Yippee Yellow! Or Yikes Yellow!
Yellow brings on extreme emotions. You either like it (Yippee Yellow) or can’t stand it (Yikes Yellow). Well in 2013, if you are in the former category, you have a treat in store, for yellow footwear was an eye-catching trend in the Spring collections. As for the ‘Yikes Yellowites’..bad luck, maybe the trend won’t exist next season.
Burberry Prorsum, Thakoon and Derek Lam were some of the big names that showcased this trend. And the materials ranged from crocodile skin to satin in the sunshine color.
3. Royal Red
Given its traditional association with love, passion and romance, red footwear, a hot trend for Spring 2013, will make you feel like a queen.
Moschino showcased a royal rhinestone encrusted deep red model…
…while Dolce and Gabbana presented creatively designed red footwear with artistic detailing on the wedge.
4. Outrageous Orange
Orange footwear was quite popular in Spring 2013 footwear collections showcased by designers. With yellow and red trending in the season, can orange be far behind?
Assembly New York accessorized bright orange shoes with a matching purse to ‘complete’ the look.
And other designers like Roberto Cavalli, Charlotte Olympia stuck to paler versions of orange, fashionably known as nectarine.

5. Bright Color Footwear Trends Spring 2013
‘Bright’ is the official color for footwear in Spring 2013. Designers have incorporated this into their footwear in unique ways.
Some presented bright color blocked footwear (just like the color blocking trend in apparel).
And some designers like David Koma and Cavalli creatively introduced bright colors into the heel of the footwear for a truly stylish look.
Remember the Penguin movie called Happy Feet. Well if it was made in Spring 2013, and if Penguins were fashion conscious, it would have probably been called Bright Feet. Do you agree?
