Reality television never fails to come with a high dosage of drama and I am sure you will agree with us on this. There has probably never been a single reality show that hasn’t witnessed a single moment of drama. So bringing together reality shows and drama, we take you to the sets of American Idol Season 12, to witness a bit of catty action.
So who are the warring parties here, participants or judges? Well, the judges of course. It seems a lot more interesting when there is a feud occurring on the other side of the stage rather than on it, doesn’t it?
Season 12 of the popular singing reality show hasn’t even kicked off completely and the show is certainly heating up, thanks to the catty feud between judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
Executive producer of American Idol, Nigel Lythgoe, recently claimed that the highly publicized feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on the sets of American Idol, is indeed genuine and not just a publicity stunt to gain higher ratings for the show.
However, putting gossip buffs to rest, there isn’t really any meaty reason behind the whole feud. The “feud” scenario has been described with sobriety, wherein spokespersons of the show are claiming that arguments and disagreements are a part of everybody’s profession. It is natural for two people doing the same work to have a difference of opinion, leading to clashes and arguments. There are reports stating that there were such clashes between the two songstresses during the process of auditions.
However, Nigel Lythgoe also goes on to claim that these professional feuds occurred between each and every judge on the judging panel and wasn’t just an exclusive “Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj” moment.
When Mariah Carey was asked about the lyrics of Nicki Minaj’s song, ‘Hell Yeah,’ rumored to be directed towards the pop sensation, Mariah responded saying she didn’t know that Minaj sang and thought that she rapped.
There is certainly a lot of gossip doing the rounds about the feud, although no one really has confirmed reports of the same. Another rumor, which we’re waiting for confirmation, states that American Idol filming was forcibly cancelled because of Nicki Minaj’s threat to knock out Mariah Carey.
Now we wonder how much of this is actually true, but we’re all certainly going to be waiting with eyes and ears wide open to witness the 12th season of the long running singing reality to see how much about the feud was a reality and how much wasn’t.
