Jennifer Lawrence’s Dress Malfunction at SAG 2013- the Truth Revealed

Jennifer Lawrence suffered a hugely embarrassing moment at the SAG Awards on January 27th as her Dior Couture gown seemed to rip right across her thighs, and she flashed some more skin than people expected to see.

It was tough luck that the dress malfunction occurred at Jennifer’s moment of glory – when she was on her way to the stage to pick up the best actress award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

It is unlikely anyone would have missed the rip because all eyes were on Jennifer just then.

Jennifer Dazzled on the Red Carpet

Much appreciated for her performance in Silver Lining Playbook, Jennifer is a strong contender for the Academy Award. Inspite of not being in the best of health, Jennifer made to the SAG red carpet and dazzled in her navy blue Christian Dior strapless number. Her side swept hair and classy necklace and earrings made an elegant and sophisticated picture. A thousand pities that it had to be shattered thus.

What Actually Happened

Well apparently, the gown is crafted with different levels of tulle and satin. And when Jeniffer walked up to stage, she slightly lifted her dress to inadvertently expose the tulle layer beneath. And being a sheer layer, it perhaps gave an impression of a rip. The spokesperson from Christian Dior has officially confirmed that that there was indeed no rip in the dress.

And essentially the starting point for all this is that if you observed carefully, Jennifer’s dress was caught under someone’s chair and as she got up to collect her reward, she sort of tripped. Perhaps to gain balance, she lifted up her dress and the rest is history.

Nicole’s Kidman’s reaction here is priceless.

You think Nicole is being rude? No, I think. It appears she is sporting an indulgent smile rather than a mean one.

Jennifer Takes it in Her Stride

Jennifer proved that she is indeed a woman of steel as she took her dress malfunction in her stride. Perhaps she knew it was not a rip, but only the sheer layer, or perhaps, she did not. But it did not affect her, as she walked proud, and maybe just a little bit overwhelmed to collect her deserving honor. And she was every bit eloquent in speech and displayed none of the low confidence one would associate with someone wearing a (slightly) compromised dress.

Bravo Jennifer. Your award is indeed well deserved.
