The most anticipated (and may I mention high profile) Awards this season have just concluded. The 85th Annual Academy Awards or the Oscars 2013 celebrated the best of entertainment.
It was the night when stars descended on the red carpet, hope in their eyes, desire in their hearts and million dollar smiles firmly placed on their faces. Naturally, not everyone won. And those who did not take home an Oscar had the satisfaction of knowing they looked absolutely gorgeous and glamorous in those expensive couture gowns and sparkling accessories and flawless looks and hair perfectly in place.
Here are some of the best looks at Oscars 2013.
1. Shades of White and Nude Dominate
It appears that white is the new black. Ditching classic black for the more unorthodox white and nude shades, several of leading ladies posed with confidence and élan on the Oscar red carpet.
The lovely Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway who are making a habit of winning the honors each time and every time both chose nude outfits. For Anne, it was a blush colored Prada dress with a sparkling Tiffany neckpiece, while Jennifer chose to go strapless with a creation from her favorite fashion label this season Dior.
Jessica Chastain shone and sparkled not only because of her pretty face and smile, but because of her dazzling gown that was an Armani Prive and her perfectly accessorized Harry Winton jewels. The dress apparently reminded her of old Hollywood.
Charlize Theron in the meantime looked ‘white hot’ in Dior couture and Harry Winston jewels. The cropped hair looks great on Charlize, don’t you think?
2. Sparkle and Shimmer at Oscars 2013
And then there were some who wanted to shine and boy did they shine! Choosing bright sparkly outfits, and wearing them with grace and elegance, these ladies showed us what it takes to be a true fashion diva.
Catherine Zeta-Jones was the ‘golden’ girl literally with her gold studded Zuhair Murad evening gown. She closely resembled the Oscar statuette. Nicole Kidman opted for a figure hugging tasteful golden and black L’ Wren Scott ensemble that showed off her curves to advantage. Naomi Watts looked stunning in gun metal shaded smart gown, which she accessorized with only a bracelet. Naomi’s look is my favorite. Which one is yours?
3. Colors at the Oscars 2013
Of course some of our lovely ladies stuck to their favorite colors to make a big impression on Oscar night and many of them succeeded.
Jennifer Aniston chose a deep red strapless Valentino gown that looked just perfect, while Reese Witherspoon opted for the safer, but no less spectacular blue color gown from Louis Vuitton.
And Adele as usual looked gorgeous in black.
Now yellow is a color you would normally associate as being too bright and bold and would not consider wearing normally, let alone at high profile events. But Jane Fonda rocked this yellow Versace gown and how!
Don’t you agree?
