Red Carpet Glamour: The 2012 MTV EMA’s

After first announcing its nominees back on September 17, it was time for the official countdown prefacing the 2012 MTV European Music Awards to end right on the evening of November 11th. Yesterday night, the city of Frankfurt hosted the 18th edition of the prestigious awards celebrating the best music videos and artists in Europe, in a spectacular show presented by German supermodel Heidi Klum.

Aside from the list of winners and the live performances, we were of course mostly interested in the red carpet show, as it is always one of the most memorable sequences of an award ceremony. This time around, we had our high expectations set on some of the stars attending the fabulous event, and we weren’t left disappointed. Curious to find out who made it onto our best-dressed list? Read more to find out.

Rita Ora’s eclectic style usually keeps us on the fence, as the singer makes for the most unexpected and unpredictable red carpet choices. For the 2012 MTV EMA’s the singer channeled her ultra-feminine side in a spectacular red gown, part of Marchesa’s Fall 2012 collection. The ball-gown that featured an embroidered illusion bodice, and a voluminous taffeta skirt, was complemented by a chic faux-bob and matching red lips. Quite flawless.

Lana Del Rey took on the red carpet for the 2012 MTV EMA’s celebration held in Germany, alongside boyfriend Barrie-James O’Neill. The 22-year-old singer that ended up winning the award for “Best Alternative” sported a vintage navy satin gown, that she simply accessorized with a pair of classic black heels. Lana styled her old-fashioned look with her signature hairstyle, and a selection of delicate jewelry.

Young pop sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen, made for a stunning first appearance at the 2012 MTV EMA’s, rocking a Johanna Johnson metallic silver gown. Her floor-length sleeveless lace dress, was complemented by a mirror clutch, a loose wavy braid and bold dark red lipstick. The “Call Me Maybe” singer won the awards for “Best Song” and “Best Push Act” during the ceremony.

Taylor Swift 2012-MTV-EMA's

Taylor Swift made for yet another flawless appearance for the 2012 MTV EMA’s yesterday night. The country singer opted for a pale grey J. Mendel Fall 2012 gown with beautiful shimmering accents. The floor-length frock that also featured alluring sheer side inserts and delicate beading, was styled with minimal jewelry, glossy lips and soft curls. Taylor took home three MTV awards the other night, including the ones for “Best Live Act” and “Best Female”.

Alicia Keys 2012-MTV-EMA's

Alicia Keys joined the star-studded Frankfurt event the other night, signing on an elegant appearance thanks to her impeccable Stella McCartney “Miracle” dress. The green hour-glass shaped dress, featuring sheer side panels and a medium length, was accessorized with a statement choker and silver metallic pumps. A sleek bob haircut and bold red lips finished off the beautiful look.

Kim Kardashian 2012-MTV-EMAs

Kim Kardashian was one of the guest attendees that also walked the red carpet for the 2012 MTV EMA’s. Kim took on the opportunity to showcase a fabulous Stephan Rolland gown for the occasion. Her black, long-sleeved mini-dress in front, featured a massive train in the back and a sexy plunging neckline. The reality-star kept the accessories to a minimum, styling her gown with a pair of ankle strap sandals, smokey eyes and a sleek ponytail.

Heidi Klum 2012-MTV-EMAs

The reason we saved Heidi Klum for last has nothing to do with the fact that she hosted the event, or that she might have scored the best appearance of the night. We are simply still undecided on her overall look, and can’t figure out on which side of the list she belongs. Some people loved Heidi’s Versace Spring 2013 teal one-sleeved gown, while others hated the intricate embellishments, paired with the plunging neckline, and the super high slit. While we agree that her look had too much of everything going on, the supermodel definitely has what it takes to pull this off. Flawless make-up and a half-braided bouffant styled the bold appearance.
