The X Factor Season 2 finale was certainly a festive, glamorous and glittering night in the presence of the music industry’s most renowned and newly rising talent. After a power packed grand finale of 2 hours, X Factor finally crowned country man Tate Stevens as the winner. The 37 year old achiever from Missouri won a $5 million recording contract with a lifetime of free Pepsi injections.
The night kicked off with a grand entry of the four judges L. A. Reid, Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, who were welcomed by the hosts of the season Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian Odom as they stepped onto the Red Carpet from their black SUVs. Along with the judges, the star performers of the evening One Direction and Pitbull, too, made quite a roaring entry amidst a host of cheering fans.
The musical night began with the Top 3 finalists Carly Rose Sonenclare, Tate Stevens and Fifth Harmony performing the Beatles’ famous number All You Need is Love with thundering cheers from the crowds, fans and other X Factor members, starting off the show on the right note.
Our favorite part of the night (hands down) was the comedic tit bits being played with the judges’ funny reactions like L. A. Reid playing an air conductor, Simon’s meanest comments, Britney’s hilarious facial expressions and Demi’s tiff with Simon.
The show then entered into Holiday mode with performances on songs for the holidays by the top 3 finalists, each of whom was joined by festive dancers. Tate Steven’s Rendition of Please Come Home for Christmas was accompanied by attractive women dancers in pink bows. Carly Rose Sonenclare sang Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is you with adorable toy soldiers dancing alongside her. Fifth Harmony took the festive cheer to an extreme with faux snow, red and white candy canes and white carousel horses in the background as they performed to Christmas, Baby Please come Home.
It was then time for the much awaited moment of the night, the results. Finishing in 3rd place was Fifth Harmony, the awesomely melodious group entry into the competition, leaving Carly and Tate as the two finalists for the big moment. However, the two had to patiently wait to hear the results as Pitbull took to stage with his hit “Don’t Stop the Party” followed by a performance on “Kiss You” by One Direction.
Carly and Tate returned to the stage with a performance on Miley Cyrus’ The Climb after which, Tate Stevens was gloriously proclaimed the winner of X Factor Season 2, who could not stop thanking his family, friends, fans and the man upstairs for the love and support. A teary eyed Tate Stevens concluded the season with his victory performance on Chris Young’s “Tomorrow”.
